Authenticators [18 Dec 2009|05:42pm]

wow_ladies

[sodzilla]
I've got a question for people with mobile authenticators. Are there different EU and US versions, as with the "real" authenticators? I live in Europe but play on the US servers, so I'd have no use for an EU version...

three questions [18 Dec 2009|10:40am]

wow_ladies

[pinkpolarity]
1. I've heard that you can as of patch 3.3 send BOA items to toons on your account in the opposite faction. How do you go about doing that?

2. When do we get the BB guns to do the PVP achievement? My guild's trying to plan a run for this. We imagine it's under the tree on Christmas day-- can anyone confirm?

3. Does anyone have a good resource guide for leveling a Pally that's actually up-to-date and doesn't refer to talents or spells that no longer exist? I'm especially looking for some spec advice for both Ret (for leveling) and Healing (for Pugging) specs @lvl 21 (what I currently am), @40, and @58. Any thoughts on spec or pally leveling in general are welcome.

Thanks!

Everything's Good, Butterbear [18 Dec 2009|10:15am]

wow_ladies

[burnslikeice]
I've been poking about online hunting Bear-centric websites. Haven't found much, to be honest. Maybe I fail at Google, or maybe what I want doesn't exist. I've found sites focused on Druids, and sites focused on tanks, but no sites devoted to Druid tanks. I found blogs, but i've been searching for more community-type Bear sites. I don't count blogs as those are more 'one person posting' and others replying, as opposed to an actual forum where there's no 'star' of the site.

So I created my own forum for Bear tanks.

I call it Butterbear.

Just made it last night, so there's not much going on at the moment. Still tweaking it a bit. I don't expect it to be a huge hit. I just wanted someplace where Bears can feel the /love. We can talk about Bear things, exchange stories, share whatever we feel like sharing. There's a general Druid section, too, but the focus is Bear. All are welcome to join.

And I think i'll explain something before it's asked...
The name "Butterbear" comes from a joke with my guildies. Two guys from a different guild we have an alliance with found out i'm female. And single. And saw a RL photo i'd posted to my own guild's forum. Next thing I know they're both flirting all over me. And since i'm a decent sort of tank they have reason to want me running raids with them.
Well, guildies commented that they were "buttering me up" so they'd have a raid-bear (theirs took a break to go Cat for a bit at the time, I think). Hence the term "Butterbear" was born. The full expression they came up with is "Everything's Good, Butterbear." They're silly. But the nickname's stuck and i've gotten used to it. So it was the first thing that popped into mind, that wasn't overused, when I went to create my little Bear forum.

Looks like they fixed the awesome bug where you could use Fire Nova even when you were in the middle of casting another spell. It was so nice being able to do something else while my 2 second chain heal was in the middle of casting..

Another PUG post - but NOT a rant! XD [18 Dec 2009|07:43am]

wow_ladies

[souldreamer]
I have noticed, like most of you, that because the random PUG generator puts people together, there's no reason for people to talk. No "Can I get a summon please?" or "I have a healer if we still need one." We don't have to talk. So, the ice doesn't get broken. And I can be kinda quiet and reserved, so I may not talk unless other people are talking. But last night I decided to start an experiment. I ran two PUGs and both times I started out, as soon as we got into the instance, with a very bright and cheery "Hi! How is everyone doing today?"

And both groups actually did start talking more. Usually it was just 1 or 2 people chatting with me, but it made the run more pleasant. I'll have to continue this experiment and I encourage you girls to try it out, too. :)

On a side note - my guild is <3

[g] Me: I am running an experiment.
[g] Random Guildy: Yes, Kel, Gnomes do smoke when held over an open flame, now put me down!
[g] [info]waters_deep (GL): LOL You guys are just a little off the beaten path.

I hop in for my Random daily for the Badges of Frost. Over the past few week I've slogged through TOC, the first IceCrown instance, and I've run the Oculus for it three fricking days running. I got Violet Hold this morning.

HOORAY!

Except...

The server the instance was located on was just about to restart. )

Hello wow_ladies! [18 Dec 2009|01:18pm]

[gemz_lee]
[ mood | chipper ]

Hi there everyone!

My name is Gemz and I'm a n00b to the community.

My main is a level 80 Night Elf Warrior on Sporeggar-EU. I also have numerous alts on other realms. I'm hoping that this community will allow me to meet some new friends and will help me to become a better tank. :D

I wanted to ask about stats and equipment for tanking. What would you recommend for heroic dungeons and raids? I have a defence rating of 544 and my HP is around 25k (maybe slightly over). I would like to do more heroics and raid, but can't quite manage it with what I have.

Here's the link to my main's character sheet on the armoury: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Sporeggar&n=Cerridwin

I've had a look through the suggested upgrades, but would love opinions of fellow players too.

Any advice would be appreciated. :D Thanks!

Sometimes being a tauren just isn't big and intimidating enough to get things done. Sometimes you need your dragon to help out when you have to steal some Alliance supplies!

...and also serve as a getaway vehicle when the other team starts chasing you on gryphon-back.

Here be art! )

Hi, I'm Feitan aka Zahki from Wyrmrest Accord. You might know me from posting the In Character Zul'Aman RP raid, and the various pictures I take with my WoW figures.

My main is an Undead Warlock, and I have longed for the Undead Warlock figure. However it has long since been out of print, and is a pain to find.

However.... )

The nice PuG [18 Dec 2009|10:17am]

worldofwarcraft

[parakletos]
I've had some horrors in my time and by running lots of HCs recently the list is growing. But, this is the story of a nice PuG, where mistakes happened and no one left, and people talked to each other.

I've gone back to trying to heal on my Pally, and its a bit of a steep learning curve for me. After a few mistakes by others, e.g. the DK walking off the edge in FoS, we got to the final boss and I just couldn't heal it. I've done it fine on my priest, but after two wipes I gave up.

"Sorry guys, I can't heal this. You'd best go to back to the queue and get a better one."

So I left. The leader then whispers me:

"Do you have another spec?"

"Sure, Dps."

"Well the Shaman will heal then."

"My stuff is in the bank."

"No problem, just HS back and then portal in and we'll wait."

So I did.

After what felt like hours later, I caught up with them and we downed the boss very easily. We went on to do PoS too before we said our goodbyes and went back to our respective realms.

So here's to this PuG, may Great Father Winter bring you all that you want this year.

You Know You Play Too Much World of Warcraft When! Now on Facebook @ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kuronekos-You-Know-You-Play-Too-Much-WoW-When/244485339917. Uber long link for now, but at 25 fans I can shorten it!

Originally hosted on Geocities, I was forced to find a new home for it after Geocities was shut down. I finally figured out that Facebook thing (I've never been into the "social networking" thing). I figured most people on are there now and it would be perfect since fans can post their ideas and such.

Enjoy and Happy Feast of Winter Veil!

bog. [17 Dec 2009|10:12pm]

[_dante_sparda_]
[ mood | thoughtful ]

For the longest time, I used Ammo-matique to manage my ammo; it'd automatically swap between cheaper and spendier arrows depending on whether I was targeting trash or bosses, as well as put all my arrows into one specific bag so things are tidier. Well, it hasn't been updated since October, and 3.3 broke it a bit so that, when I left-clicked on something to select it for attack, my cursor would turn into the ammo pile currently in use; if I clicked on nothing, it'd ask me if I wanted to delete the ammo pile, and if I clicked on my bars, it'd exchange the pile with the icon in that place, even though my bars are locked. Extremely annoying, especially in the middle of combat.

I disabled the addon and the bug seems to have gone away for now (at least, it hasn't repeated since I turned it off), but it's utterly spoiled me for ammo management and I'm rather senile in my old age so I don't always remember to swap manually. Any other hunters out there know of a similar addon, or have recommendations for others that make your lives easier?

Many thanks in advance. <3

Holy Paladins [17 Dec 2009|08:33pm]

wow_ladies

[doinitforjohnny]
So, I just dinged 80 yesterday after playing WoW since July. My fiance has multiple 80's and finally got me to try it out myself and I loved the game. While leveling he played a healer, which is what his main is, and I filled in the tank roll for leveling instances. I liked tanking, but I was always so stressed about it, and nervous. I wanted to do something that wasn't DPS and I just ended up doing it. However, after realizing I wasn't entirely comfortable taking tanking leadership positions when I still feel SO green to the game I changed specs and went Holy. I love it! I'm still nervous/excited before a new instance, but now I don;t dread them. I want to do more than level alts. So we worked together and got me from 74 to 80 this past week, him bear tanking me healing and picking up 3dps with the new LFG, which I really enjoy. I dinged 80 yesterday and we ran 5 man TOC and I got 5 epics, which I think is a good start. WoW-Heroes says im ready for Naxx.... but I can't quite wrap my mind around that. I need to do heroics before starting raiding, correct?

Here is my gear <http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aggramar&n=Vict%C3%B2ire>

Any advice for a new 80? A new healer?

EDIT: I'm still wearing my ret libram. Any ideas on what would be a good upgrade, and where to get it?

Hunter bug [18 Dec 2009|11:06am]

[flameandshadow]
Just out of curiosity, have any other hunters gotten a bug with their Call Stabled Pet ability? I used it soon after patch, hooray 5min cooldown! Except... it ended up with, for some reason, a 21 DAY cooldown. WTF. Currently sitting on a 19 day cooldown, so relogging hasn't fixed it, nor has waiting a coupla days. I've got a ticket in atm, hopefully I'll get some sorta reply soon.

Just wondering if anyone else has gotten anything like this. o_O

Recruiting Horde players-Steamwheedle Cartel(US) [17 Dec 2009|06:48pm]

wow_ladies

[rowanx]
Steadfast to the mandates of our consciences; steadfast in our support of each other; steadfast in the belief that we can change the world, we unite as equals to forge an enlightened and prosperous future for the Horde.

We are Raiders who Roleplay, Roleplayers who PvP, PvPers who Raid...and everything in between.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

We are:

~A mature guild who seeks mature players
~Raiders that are organized and patient
~Casual in our approach through raid progression
~Roleplayers that enjoy exploring the lore of Azeroth
~Prone to take action in Arenas and Battlegrounds for the glory of the Horde
~Friendly and respectful to one another
~Steadfast

We are not:

~A stepping stone to other guilds - So don't use us as one!
~Beggars - Though we often help if asked with an amount of patience.
~Griefers - Unless you're an Alliance. This means we do not take advantage of each others kindness.
~That serious about progressing through content faster than any other guild

We are experienced in Ulduar, ToC 10/25 man, Onyxia 10/25, and VoA 10/25
Currently we are looking for motivated new members to fill our roster for 10 man content, and in time and after some growth, towards 25 man content again.

Currently we are raiding 2 to 3 nights a week; Typically Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; starting around 7pm realm time.

We seek those who are willing to read and abide to our Guild's Bylaws.

We offer:

~A fun and friendly atmosphere for raiding, pvping, and roleplay. Our focus can change depending on what our guild is most interested in.
~A sophisticated EPGP (DKP) system that offers fairness and visibility so all members can track their own and each others progress
~Arena Teams in all of the three brackets (Currently down)
~A Ventrillo Server that is paid for and Guild Site that is ad-free

We've been around for awhile and we are seeking more players that can fill our ranks. Now is an exciting time to join! We are recruiting many new raiders that are ready to venture into end game content but we will consider others. We do not discriminate against class or spec.

We are a hybrid guild that attempts to enjoy the variety of activities that World of Warcraft has to offer. However, we do not require guild members to participate in all of the activities (Raiding, PvP, Roleplay). In other words: Do what you most enjoy.

So visit our Guild Site and fill out an application:

http://steadfast-swc.guildlaunch.com/

You may also contact us in game for any questions:
Angellis: Speaker (Officer of Recruitment and Meetings)
Dayari: Charter Keeper (Guild Leader)

Forever shall we remain Steadfast!

Award Winning Quote [17 Dec 2009|07:13pm]

worldofwarcraft

[bloodfyr]
Award Winning Quote from a Pugged Warlock in a Halls of Reflection Heroic run. I should note that this is a place I still have trouble healing...hell...HoR is proof that Blizzard hates healers. He said this in the middle of combat against Wave Four.

"brb guys. I'm gonna go make some food." I thought he was joking, but he wasn't. For the next three waves (and the fucking boss), he stood there doing nothing.

EDIT - And then during the gauntlet, he runs off the path and finally manages to make his way back to the group at the fourth wall. We BARELY are able to pull it off...the tank taking a tick of the Lich King's AoE when the fourth wall collapsed. Quote the warlock: "lol if I didn't come back, we woulda lost".

EDIT EDIT - I would have voted to kick him, but he must've been a friend of the tank or something because they were chatting like they knew each other between pulls. The tank, on the otherhand, was AMAZING and I wasn't willing to risk losing him. :\ Damned if I do, damned if I don't.
